10 top vacation destinations in Switzerland for your dream vacation
1. Interlaken - The best place for top day trips
Interlaken is located in the middle of the Bernese Alps and the perfect place if you plan a day trip by public transport. Because it is the starting point for Lauterbrunnen, Grindelwald and many beautiful places. Through the beautiful town of Interlaken flows the enchanting emerald green Aare River, which is the connection point between Lake Thun and Lake Brienz. The town even has a funicular that will take you up to 1322 meters in a few minutes.

2. Zurich - Holidays in the biggest city of switzerland
If you prefer big cities, Zurich is your place. With a population of over 400,000, it is the largest city in Switzerland. The picturesque streets of the old town on both sides of the Limmat are evidence of the city's pre-medieval history. Waterfront promenades like the Limmatquai follow the river to the 17th century city hall. Zurich is also home to the famous Bahnhofstrasse, where you'll find stores ranging from Rolex to Gucci.

3. Murren - Gimmelwald holidays at 1650meters
The village of Murren is located above Lauterbrunnen and is one of my top favorites. Mürren, is a village in the Bernese Oberland in Switzerland. It is car-free and lies 1650 meters above sea level. Its neighboring village of Gimmelwald, also car-free, is 2.3 kilometers to the south. The Hotel Alpenruh right by the cable car station has a stunning panorama (picture is from a room). From Murren you have a good view of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau. The place is a good hiking starting point in summer and a well-developed winter sports area with the steepest ski slope in the region. Schilthorn is also well known with its revolving restaurant Piz Gloria, where the James Bond movie On Her Majesty's Secret Service was filmed.

4. Lauterbrunnen - Holidays with an impressive landscape.
The Lauterbrunnen valley lies between imposing 300 meter high rock faces. Likewise, the Staubbach Falls rushes 300 meters into the depths. In Lauterbrunnen flows the emerald-turquoise river white Lütschine. The valley has no less than 72 waterfalls, a very big spectacle to wake up to. In 1911, the then 19-year-old J.R.R. Tolkien hiked through the Swiss Alps - and of course through the Lauterbrunnen Valley with its steep rock faces. Hardly anyone knows that this is where he found his inspiration for the landscapes of "Lord of the Rings". And indeed, anyone familiar with the books and film adaptations will always feel transported to Middle Earth in the Lauterbrunnen Valley.

5. Iseltwald - Holidays in the fishing village directly at the lake of brienz
Iseltwald is the only village on the left shore of Lake Brienz and rightly called the pearl of Lake Brienz. The beautiful fishing village has a bay where the beach feeling comes up. In Iseltwald there is a Hot Tug (Hot Pot) where you can float in a 38 degree warm pool in Lake Brienz. Perfect to relax. The village is also famous for the Korean Netflix series "Crash Landing on You" where the piano scene was filmed on the jetty in Iseltwald. Also famous is the Seeburg Castle of Iseltwald.

6. Fälensee - Holidays for hikers directly at the lake Fälensee
You won't forget this vacation in a hurry. The mountain inn Bollenwees is located directly at the Fälensee. After a hike to the Saxer Lücke, this mountain inn is the closest and best place to stay. A sunrise is a must for me every time. Lake Fälensee is located in the Appenzell Alps at an altitude of 1400 meters above sea level and belongs to the Alpstein (mountain range in Appenzell). A hiking trail leads along the northern shore where fishermen try their luck. In midsummer, water rats even dare some daring swimming attempts in the max. 18° degree cold water.

7. Seealpsee - Holidays at the beautiful lake seealpsee
The beautiful Seealpsee is located in the canton of Appenzell and is at an altitude of 1143m.a.s.l. The Seealpsee can be reached by hiking via the famous Äscher Wildkirchli or directly via Wasserauen. From Wasserauen you can hike to the Seealpsee in about 50 minutes, but the hike is quite steep. You can also reach the two mountain inns at Seealpsee by car. A steep but very beautiful path leads from Ebenalp through a prehistoric cave, past the Wildkirchli to the Aescher inn, which is built against the rock under a steep cliff. Further on, the trail leads down to the Seealpsee.

8. Lugano - Holidays with Italian and Mediterranean Touch
Lugano is the largest city of the canton of Ticino and is located on Lake Lugano. Lugano is a city in the Italian-speaking canton of Ticino in the south of Switzerland. The Swiss-Mediterranean cultural mix is similar to that found in Lombardy in northern Italy. The mix is evident in both the architecture and cuisine. The city lies on the northern shore of Lake Lugano, a glacial lake surrounded by mountains. The central square, Piazza della Riforma, is lined with pastel-colored neoclassical palazzi. A visit to the house peaks of San Salvatore and Monte Bré you can see the beauty of the city.

9. Gruyères - Holidays for cheese lovers
Everyone has heard the name Gruyere. This is where the world famous cheese comes from. In this beautiful village you can spend very nice vacations, because it also has over 5 museums e.g. Gruyere cheese factory where you can watch how cheese is made. Or if you want to know how Swiss chocolate is made you can visit the nearby Cailler chocolate factory. Hiking enthusiasts do not come too short the local mountain Moleson lies at 2002 meters above sea level and the Gruyere Nature Park has it very many beautiful walks.

10. Grindelwald
Grindelwald is a small Swiss town in the Bernese Alps. It is considered the gateway to the Jungfrau region, which attracts many skiers in winter and is a popular hiking destination in summer. In addition, Grindelwald is also popular as a base quarter for climbing the legendary Eiger North Face. Just outside Grindelwald lies the Glacier Gorge. Various hiking trails with information boards lead to waterfalls and banded limestone walls. A visit to Grindelwald First is a must because there you can do the famous Instagram hotspot "First Cliff Walk" where you can climb 45 meters above the cliff for a breathtaking view.
